Installing Southwind Authentic Mix Craftsman Manor
This Detroit Lakes MN couple wanted an easy to maintain floor that was beautiful and would hold up to Lake Life. We found them the perfect floor with Southwind Authentic Mix Craftsman Manor.

In early 2020, the Qually family called our Valley City location to request a quote. They were retired and moved back to the Detroit Lakes area to be close to family. Their new home was of modular construction with a lot of creaking as they walked over the carpet and linoleum. After looking at our facebook page, they found a few luxury vinyl plank options that stuck out to them. Namely Cali Vinyl Mesquite and Southwind Authentic Mix Craftsman Manor.

After looking at our facebook page, they found a few luxury vinyl plank options that stuck out to them. Namely Cali Vinyl Mesquite and Southwind Authentic Mix Craftsman Manor.
Due to the construction of the Mesquite vinyl plank, they didn’t like that it was colder and not as soft underfoot as the Authentic Mix Craftsman Manor option. The reason for this is that the Mesquite is an SPC and the Craftsman Manor is a WPC, SPCs are more rigid and dense than WPC because they’re mixed with stone (hence the name Stone-Plastic-Composite, SPC.)
When we tore out their old carpet and linoleum, we found that the middle of the floor was very uneven with a low spot of over 1/2″. We filled the low spots with Uzin 182 and proceeded with the installation. After installing, there was a lot less squeaking, even in the carpeted areas. There was also less echoing in the home. Noise, warmth, and softness are flooring features that are hard to demonstrate to homeowners without them being able to visit an actual installation. We are happy that we were able to provide the perfect home for the Qually family that met and exceeded their expectations.
