Southwind’s Antique Pine flooring was a great choice for this home that had 50 year old original woodwork.
Prepping the Floors
Expensive but Minimal Prep
This project was a lot more straight forward than some of our other projects. The carpet was fairly easy to demo, however the subfloor was made out of particle board and sustained damage from years of pet urine.
Floor Prep Steps:
✅ We demoed the carpet and identified problem areas.
✅ The particle board was swollen in several areas where the previous owners pets had urinated, we had to shave down these areas.
✅ To improve the subfloor, we installed 1/4″ APA plywood over the top of the particle board, stapling into the plywood underneath. 1/4″ APA plywood is moisture resistant and an approved subfloor for LVP.
The prep wasn’t difficult but it was made expensive with the need to install premium plywood.

✅ Carpet is always going to be softer and quieter than any hard surface floor option. However, Southwind Authentic Plank is a WPC vinyl option and better than most vinyl planks on the market in terms of comfort and noise reduction properties.
✅ The high definition pine look went great with the wood panel wall in the background. The new floor made the home look up to date without having to update the wood work.
Installing this WPC luxury vinyl plank turned out great, the customers gave us an amazing review, and we feel comfortable warrantying this job for as long as these Valley City homeowners live in their home.
