Expensive Mistakes, Expert Fix

This was the third floor replacement in just three years — all due to moisture problems caused by missing vapor protection under the slab. No moisture barrier, no long-term flooring success.

To give this homeowner a floor that’s built to last (and backed by a lifetime warranty), we completed the following prep work:

Floor Prep Steps:

✅  Removed the failed vinyl plank flooring and coordinated with the drain tile contractor to install drainage throughout the home’s perimeter and interior.

✅  Repaired all cracks with a flexible sealant, then ground the concrete to a profile suitable for moisture control.

✅  Applied Ardex MC Rapid to the slab, followed by self-leveling underlayment at 3/16″ to 1/4″ thickness.

This wasn’t a DIY-friendly job. It required industrial grinders, material handling, and an Ardex Academy-trained installer on-site to ensure everything was done by the book — and done right.
